Intention and Motivation

There are numerous times where your actions or words were started with the best of intentions and ended with a less than expected outcome. Why?

Good intentions mean nothing without the right focus and motivation to back them up. Following through is key, but things won’t end up as you want them to if your focus changes.

You can desire to honor God with your life—work, kids, marriage, and social influence. What happens though when your job becomes mundane and the last thing you want to do everyday is go somewhere where you don’t seem to matter?

What happens when you try to give your kids all the opportunities they could want to be good at something, but instead you find the family being overcommitted with no time to focus on what’s most important?

Do you find yourself still upholding the vows you made to your spouse, before God and your family, when times are tough and words are not always loving?

And what about social media? You told yourself you wanted to use it as a platform to be uplifting to others and point them toward God, but instead you’ve gotten caught up in the comments and likes of others as the actual approval of your life.

Your influence in any aspect of your life causes a chain reaction that can cause ripples in your family for generations to come.

So your good intentions are a good start, but they don’t in and of themselves create good outcomes. You have to keep your focus and motivation on God and Him alone.

He is the reason you’re here and have been given a new purpose and hope. What is the motivation for your good intentions in life?
