It is so easy to get wrapped up in the spirit of Christmas. People seem nicer, forgiving, and more loving this time of year.
There is nothing wrong with getting into the Christmas spirit, but the problem lies in the fact that it usually happens only during this time of year. What we really need is some thing that will last all year.
Unfortunately for many, this joyfulness and loving nature starts to fizzle out by mid January. There is only one thing that can make this human feeling last all year long, year after year.
Jesus! After all He is the real reason for this season and why we are even here in the first place. We all need the Holy Spirit more in our lives than the spirit of Christmas.
We need to experience the celebration of the birth of Christ through the Spirit of Christ instead of through the spirit of Christmas. Jesus changes everything!
When the angel came to Mary to tell her she would give birth through the power of the Holy Spirit, he told her the Spirit of God would overshadow her. This means that the purpose God was giving to her at that very moment was to exceed in importance and value anything that she had planned for herself.
This is exactly what God wants to do in your life. He wants to overshadow anything and everything you are doing and anything you will do.
He wants to be the most important thing to you. If you make Him most important, He will help you make a difference by doing important and extraordinary things.
When the Spirit of God invade your life, He isn’t there to visit for a short time. He is there forever. It is the Spirit of Christ that makes Christmas and each and every day what it is—a gift from God.
Through His Spirit living in and through you, He is able to bring His kingdom to earth as it is in heaven. He created you with a purpose to be a part of all of this.
