The word awesome has become so overused in our society. We use it as an expression to show that we like something, but there are different levels of liking something.
We say a video game is awesome, an app, a friend or family member, or that an experience was awesome. There are so many other adjectives that could be used, so why overuse this one?
In the Bible, awesomeness is reserved only to describe God. To say something is awesome means that it leaves you in awe. It inspires you to admire it, be amazed by it, and for it to cause ultimate wonder.
If things of this world leave you in awe more than God, our Lord Most High, then I challenge you to examine your relationship with Him. Look around at the world He created.
There are so many landscapes and so much beauty to behold all over the world. Every sunrise and sunset, every rain storm and gentle breeze, and every mountain and seashore—He created and orchestrates it all.
Try today to reserve the word awesome to refer only to God. What are some ways God leaves you in awe?
