When you set out to do something, do you love the thanks and recognition you get from doing it more than just knowing you’re doing a good or right thing?
There is nothing wrong with people thanking you for a job well done or recognizing you for your service, but it shouldn’t be what’s most important to you.
Going through the motions just to get something you want doesn’t please God. In Proverbs 16:2 it says that God examines your heart to see your motives.
Anyone can choose to follow the rules and do what’s right, but it’s the person whose motives are pure and rooted in respect and faith in God that brings all the praise to Him.
Seeking or wanting personal gain does not get you want you want. Acting with a servant’s heart doesn’t just honor God. It gives you favor with Him.
If you have faith that you will receive what you ask God for, you will have it because He honors and rewards a heart that loves Him and loves others.
When is a time you put people ahead of yourself when it comes to a task at hand?
