There are times to be assertive and times to practice passivity. Standing up for yourself is important, but not when the decision to do so leads you to be part of a group of people you don’t want to be with.
Being a people pleaser will leave you exhausted. Many find it easier to live this way because it’s an active response. You take the initiative with good intentions.
When it comes to God, He isn’t interested in your good intentions. He wants your heart and the way to make sure you’re living for Him is to choose to trust Him.
Trusting God isn’t something that comes easy because it means you have to act passively. You’re admitting that He knows what’s best and no matter what that looks like in your life, you’re fully allowing Him to take control.
Hebrews 11:6 says it is impossible without faith to please God. So as hard as you try with your own strength, you’ll never be able to please Him without first putting your belief, faith, and trust in Him.
So when you put trust as the foundation of your relationship with Him, you will please Him.
Have you been trying to please God through your own strength or through your trust in Him?
