You don’t have to have given birth to know that the nine months leading up to the event and the event itself can bring joy, fear, anticipation, and sometimes complications.
Mary had a life planned out in her mind with her fiancé Joseph. She had a cute little house in her mind where they would live together and raise a family. She knew how many kids she wanted to have and maybe even had specific names picked out.
She had a plan. But we all know the best laid plans are not always the plans God has for us. I do know though from experience that abandoning your own plans to follow what God has for you always turns out so much better than what you could have imagined for yourself.
Mary became pregnant by way of the Holy Spirit. This is an incredible and life-changing concept. What is impossible for us is never impossible for God.
If God was able to make Mary, who was a virgin, pregnant by way of the Holy Spirit, what could He metaphorically be trying to birth through you?
The birthing process of a new dream or adventure can be scary, painful, joyful, and frustrating sometimes. Sounds a lot like someone giving birth to an actual baby, right?
As we are getting ready to end 2020 and begin a new year, pray and be open to new, exciting, and possibly scary things that He would like to do in and through you.
Just think, if Mary had not been receptive to God and obedient to His call on her life what could have happened differently with the birth of Christ? Obedience and willingness are the keys to living an abundant life in Christ.
What has God been trying to speak into your life and what may that mean for you in the coming year? He may be getting ready to do an amazing work that only He can do and all He needs is your willingness and open heart to Him.
