Living in the Grey

What is truth? Is there a universally moral standard by which we all should be living?

The lines around us have become so blurred there is almost not a black and white, right and wrong, to things anymore. The grey area has grown so wide it’s where most of us have chosen to live.

People change the truth at points in their lives to back up their actions—you and I are both guilty of this. Even children are at fault.

What is the first thing they do when you confront them with why something in the house became broken? They find a way to twist the truth and blame someone else—like the dog.

When our oldest was two and her sister was only a baby, we asked her what happened to her toy that was no longer working. Without hesitation she turned and looked at her immobile baby sister and blamed it on her.

In all seriousness though, we have lost our moral compass. How can you and I begin to get our bearings again if we don’t first find true north?

The plain and simple answer is we can’t. The only way to move from darkness to light and stop feeling around for the correct way to do, say, and go is to turn back to the only thing that can put light and right back into your life.

God is truth—He doesn’t speak truth—He is truth. Because of this, He can’t live in darkness and doesn’t hang out in the shadows. God and His ways should be our moral standard of living.

Why? He is the only thing that is never going to change. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He cannot tell a lie and always fulfills His promises.

In a time when people are debating about who to elect as our next president, I encourage you to stand with God. What is holding you back from trusting the God of truth and light?
