You have heard of the mysterious fountain of youth. Supposedly, if you were to drink or bathe in the water found within in it, you would have everlasting youth—in essence everlasting life here on earth.
Our lives here are full of ups and downs. Of course everything we experience is temporary. I don't know about you, but there are some seasons and cycles of life that I don’t care to repeat or live through indefinitely.
Thank goodness God sent His Son to die for you and for me. His willing sacrifice made a way for you to never be hungry or thirsty again. I’m not just talking physical food and drink that you can see.
When you allow Christ to become a part of your life, you have chosen to have His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, live on the inside of you. The Holy Spirit is what helps guide you in this life. He also helps you understand when you read Scripture, not through your own understanding, but with the fresh eyes of God.
God is three in one—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You can’t have or believe in one without the others. It’s a package deal. The Holy Spirit on the inside of you is like a continuous source of living water—a wellspring—that will never leave you thirsting for more, except maybe wanting to know God more and more.
We try to fill voids, pain, and disappointments in this life with so many worldly things. These things will never satisfy the God-shaped hole in your heart and will always leave you thirsty and hungry.
Choosing to be someone who chases after God’s own heart because what He wants becomes your heart’s desire, will provide enough living water to sustain you for all eternity.
When the wellspring inside of you bubbles up to overflowing, everyone around you will benefit from this living water through your testimony and the way you live your life. How has His living water, the Holy Spirit, helped to sustain you in this life and assure you of your eternity in heaven to come?
