For some, it can be really hard to practice what you preach. The way you live is a direct correlation of who you want to emulate.
The problem with putting some on pedestals, is they talk a good game and their lives say something different. Christ followers are to be an example of what it is like to live with Jesus at the center of everything you do and everything you are.
You may think this means when you accept Christ you must lead a perfect life, but it’s totally the opposite. God doesn’t want you to accept Christ because you are perfect. He hopes that you will do it because you aren’t.
To be an example for others, you must first follow His example. Only He lived a sinless, perfect life. Following in His footsteps and showing His love and joy to others is all He asks. Your story will be a testimony to His goodness and grace.
So to be an example, you must follow a great example. Your children are watching you and your friends, co-workers, and everyone who sees you in watching you. Knowing you are a Christian, they will see Christ radiate from you and wonder why what gives you the pep in your step and a heart to serve others first.
