Do you know you can walk every day beside someone and still not know or “belong” to them?
Walking with Jesus isn’t the same thing as belonging to Him. We can talk about walking with Him as a metaphorical act, but it is very much a physical act and anyone can do it or say they do it. Belonging though is an attachment of the heart because it exists when there is a close, personal relationship between two people.
Jesus’ disciples walked with Him for three years and saw Him do miracles, signs, and wonders—right before their eyes. Then when it came down to it, Thomas doubted Christ had risen because He didn’t see Him—even though Jesus had told him it was going to happen.
Then there is Judas. He walked with Jesus and in the end betrayed Him to the highest degree one can. Before Judas ended his life from the grief he felt, he regretted what he had done.
But regret isn’t repentance. Regret is something you feel when you have deep sorrow. It isn’t full repentance, which expresses your acknowledgment of what you’ve done and your promise to turn away from it.
When you refuse to repent you are showing to everyone a disbelief in Jesus as the Savior. Knowing this truth will set you free. Accept Christ, remain faithful to Him, and He will reveal all truth to you and help you to live your best life.
Are you continuing to remain faithful to Him and to His truth?
