Do you remember playing red rover on the playground when you were a kid? Every child had the hope in their heart to be picked first. Sometimes though we are chosen last and if it happens often enough, it’s something we don’t soon forget.
God wants to be your first pick. He wants you to choose to accept the gift of His Son and and to put Him first in your life. But long before you ever chose God, He chose you first. In the beginning before any of us were in physical existence He chose you.
You have a purpose, a call on your life—we all do. This call isn’t something to take lightly or to overlook. If the God of the universe has a specific purpose for you and you alone then no one else can carry it out like He chose you to do.
He chose you. He chose for you to be who you are, in the place where you are, and encountering each person you meet and form a community with. God doesn’t make mistakes. We do from time to time, but if you put Him and seek Him above all else He will make your path straight again.
Only the path He has planned for you will lead to fulfillment in Him and it will always include producing fruit. No you are not a physical tree or a vine that springs forth fruit on it's branches, but God is the true vine and we are the branches who are a part of Him forever.
Apart from Him we can do nothing of real significance just like a branch cut off from the main source of it’s existence cannot live. God wants to see you thrive and when you remain close to Him in all you say and do, He will fill you up with every good thing.
His love, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and compassion will spill out of you and make a difference in the lives of others. This is what He meant by you producing lasting fruit. The seeds He has planted inside of you will then multiply and you will plant seeds of God’s goodness in the lives of those around you.
Where have you been able to plant seeds of God’s goodness in those around you?
