Be Patient

Have you ever been told to be patient? I’ve met some pretty impatient kids, but even more impatient adults. I blame a society that is so use to getting instant results—news, online purchasing, and even paying bills and making appointments.

Things have gotten so impersonal we hardly have to talk to someone to do anything. So when we call someone and are put on hold or go to a doctor or business and have to spend time in a waiting room, we become impatient.

No one likes to wait. Time is precious and every minute you wait is a minute lost. Right? Many feel this way. I believe this is why our times of quarantine and shutdown disturb us so much.

We feel unproductive and, in a way, out of control because all control seems to be lost. So may things went down last year and though most are still unresolved, it is a new year and a new day.

God is still in control and is still ever present with us and in us. The times when you have to wait would be so much more bearable if you would just let Jesus be with you.

Part of living a life of faith led by God is listening and waiting on Him. The Bible says if we ask we shall receive. Now not everything is answered quickly or exactly the way you wanted it to be, but God has never failed and He won’t start now.

If patience wasn’t important it wouldn’t be one of the fruits of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5. If we rest in His Spirit within us, we should be able to breathe a little easier and a little more knowing impatience never gets us anywhere.

Prayer changes things, but sometimes you may feel the answers aren't coming as fast as you would like so you take things into your own hands. Things never end up as well this way.

Your actions show how much you trust God and His plans. Making things happen too quickly when God has you in the “waiting room” moves you forward before it’s time. Even if you feel like you’ve been waiting on God to help you, waiting is only temporary.

It won’t last forever and what happens on the other side will propel you further forward into the plans God has for you. Where does God have you waiting right now?
