People often think that joy and happiness are the same thing. Finally getting some thing you had wanted for a really long time brings you joy, right?
Are use to think this was the case, but it is possible to have happiness and not have joy. You see happiness is a temporary response or mental state based on your circumstances.
You will know that’s some thing has brought you happiness and not joy if the feeling you have fades away overtime. Sure happiness can be found in this world.
But any happiness you find while in this world Will only be temporary and not eternal. Joy is eternal happiness. When the angel came to the shepherds to tell them the Messiah had been born, they said they brought good tidings of great joy.
Only the power of Jesus in your life is able to bring you true and lasting joy. So many search for ways to bring happiness into their life, but they are searching in all the wrong places.
I have heard people say that God wants them to be happy. I believe God wants us to be joyful. If you have joy deep within your heart, it will always be at the root of who you are.
Because Jesus came, died, and gave us the Holy Spirit to live within us we can experience true joy each and every day. It’s easier said than done, but try each day to trust God more and live by faith and not fear.
Then the joy of the Lord will be your source of happiness all the days of your life. Are you living in joy or chasing happiness?
