Practice Makes You Better

As a child remember some of the things you couldn’t do well when you were first learning. I’m sure at some point or another you heard someone say, “Practice makes perfect.”

I don’t think that’s a realistic expression. Nothing you or I do will ever be perfect because we are imperfect beings made by a perfect God.

Instead, it should be practice makes you better. Before Jesus we were all sinners. After Him we still are too, but it’s because of Him our sin doesn’t have to define us anymore.

The more you get to know God through prayer and His Word, the more you know about the way He wants you to live. Loving God and loving others isn’t just a motto. It is a lifestyle!

To hear the Word of God isn’t enough. To know it by heart isn’t enough. You must put it into action! When you take to heart all that you learn about Him, it changes the way you live your life.

Practicing what you learn makes you a better follower of Christ—not a perfect follower. You and I will always make mistakes, but God is always there with open arms to love and forgive. It is important to do the same with others.

Let your tests and trials be your testimony of His greatness. How have you shared with someone what you have learned about God?
