Be Careful What You See

You try to shield the things your children see when they are little, but why? What they see affects how they feel and how they react to situations and others.

Somehow you lose this correlation as an adult. I’m not saying you shouldn’t stay informed about the world around you, but we seem to have become desensitized to the evils of this world.

There can be good news reported, but it’s few and far between. Seeing and hearing in the media about killings, abuse, and attacks each and every day has the ability to dull your spirit.

It is no wonder why depression and anxiety are on the rise and why these things plague children even as early as the age of ten.

Hollywood isn’t helping the issue either. There are movies and television shows that basically promote and approve of lust and infidelity, murder, pornography, jealousy, manipulation, and so many more things the Bible warns us to stay away from.

The only thing that is going to protect your spirit, God’s Spirit that lives inside of you, is for your to live by the line from an old Sunday School song. “ Be careful little eyes what you see.”

I encourage you to open up your eyes and let in the light and love of God instead of the darkness of this world. Protect your spirit by guarding your eyes and your heart from anything that could cause you to stumble in your walk with Christ.

No one is perfect and you will continue to fall short—even after accepting Christ. The things of this world are so enticing and cause even the most righteous person to stumble.

What kinds of things are you doing to guard your heart, mind, and spirit from the sin of this world?
