In the face of uncertainty and the trials of life, you have a choice. You can panic and worry or you can remain calm and confident.
The confidence you have shouldn’t be rooted in your own abilities, but in the ability of God to work in and through you.
Saul and the Israelites were taunted by Goliath for 40 days. Jesse’s oldest three sons were fighting with Saul to defeat the Philistines, but David was too young so he brought food to them on the front lines—while bringing back word to Jesse that they were doing all right.
The Lord was with David when he had to fight a bear or a lion who tried to eat one from his father’s flock. So why couldn’t he take on Goliath?
Well, he was seen as only a young man and not a warrior—not even yet a soldier. He didn’t have a sword, but he had something even more important to help him fight. God.
When no one else would stand up to Goliath, he volunteered for the task. He knew with God on his side, he could come at Goliath with a simple sling and a stone in the name of the Lord and God would make sure that he couldn’t fail.
Why and how was this impossible battle won? There was no humanly way possible that he should have prevailed.
But David knew the battle was God’s and couldn’t be won with a sword. Some battles you give to God and it is He who fights for you.
