Today Is No More

Yesterday is in the past and soon today will be too. Don’t be afraid of what tomorrow brought or what today will bring. Look forward in faith toward the future that will be.

The Israelites were in bondage in Egypt under Pharaoh for many years—generations and generations. There came a point where even if they didn’t like it, they were comfortable in it.

Even when Moses finally led them out of their slavery, they had times where they wanted to go back? Why would you ever want to go back to being a slave?

Comfort. Their minds had conformed to their current situation and they couldn’t transform their minds on their own to see the light into which Moses was trying to take them.

You and I can be the same way. You get so comfortable in your life of busyness and chaos that when God tries to help you have peace during this current time of staying at home, you don’t know how to react.

You’re angry that things won’t go back to “normal,” but what if the busy life without peace you were living wasn’t what God views as normal to begin with?

Just like the Israelites, you need to not be afraid and know that even if you see and feel Egypt (what has held you captive) still pursuing you, you have to let go of what was to step into what is to come.

God may not have caused this chaos in our world right now, but He is here to see you through it. Don’t let your longing to go back to “normal” keep you from reaching for the blessings ahead that God has for you.

No matter what, nothing will be the same again and you know what, that’s okay. How has God changed your heart and your priorities from what used to enslave you to a life built around His peace and pursuit of what matters to Him?
