Have you ever been to a place where the air pollution was so unhealthy it was best to stay inside? How about being thirsty when you’re camping or hiking and you’ve run out of water with the only alternative being water streaming nearby, but it’s anything but pure?
Purity matters because it reflects the quality of something. You don’t want to breathe smog-filled air because it could affects your breathing. You don’t want to drink cloudy or contaminated water because it could make you sick.
This is the same thing with impure thoughts. What you feel affects what you think and what you think affects what you say and do.
Toxic or impure thoughts can be crippling and hold you back from the life God has planned for you. So many things in this world are not from Him. They are products of our culture.
Act counterculturally. Take every doubt and thought and see what God says about it. If it doesn’t line up with what He says in His Word, it’s of this world and from Him.
Every thought should be made to be obedient to Christ. If it isn’t what God is telling you, the thought isn’t from Him. Pray and ask Him to give you His understanding and to help keep you on the right path with your thoughts and your life.
