No matter how clean you keep your house, there are always times when things just need a deep clean. You try and try to keep up with it, but life gets in the way and sometimes the time between cleanings is just a little too long.
This is how it can be with our lives too. You can stay in a situation or with a person too long that is leading you off God’s path. Before you realize it, you don’t even see the path anymore. Just as God can speak truth into your life through other believers, the enemy can also affect the thoughts and minds of anyone around you—leading you and them astray.
In order to keep yourself where you need to be, God asks you to cleanse yourself from everything in your life that can defile and distract you from the purpose He has for you. His hope is that you would keep your body and your spirit as clean and healthy as you can.
We can all agree we feel better when in good health. A healthy spirit is even more important than a healthy physical body.
God wants you to choose what is right and to keep the right company out of your reverence and love for Him. This isn’t to say you should only associate with other believers.
Christ ate and spent time with the downcast and outliers of society because it is they too who need to know about how awesome God is. But you can’t pass on what you don’t know yourself.
Accepting Christ is the most important decision you can make. But so many do it and feel sorry for how they have lived and then turn around and repeat their old life.
This decision makes you a new person because He makes your life better. Being sorry is fine in the moment, but He’s asking your to repent—to turn away from a sinful life and choose the better path with Him.
God is always there to forgive and even though His forgiveness is instant, our full repentance can take time. We hold on to parts of our lives and continue to try and control them. Are there things you need to relinquish control of and choose to turn away from?
