Spending Time

With whom do you spend your time? Time is valuable and once it’s gone it’s not a renewable resource.

How you spend each minute and who you spend it with matters. You make time for loved ones and for those closest to you because they matter more than anything—God’s gifts to us.

Jesus spent much of His time with the Father in prayer and also with His inner circle of twelve. He knew though that God had sent Him not just to make a difference in their lives, but in the lives of all men.

Surrounding yourself with other believers in Christ is an important part of your spiritual development. He made you and I to need one another because it is through other believers that your gifts and talents are given life and are developed.

It’s true God has given these gifts and talents, but without others to help these things grow you wouldn’t be able to be as impactful for Jesus Christ. Just as important as it is to be with other believers, we also must spend time with the unbelievers.

There are many reasons others don’t believe in God or that Jesus is His Son. Equally there are many levels of unbelief. No matter the reason or depth, God believes in them. He knows He has created them for a purpose to bring Him glory and honor.

It takes some longer to realize they need God and that it’s so much better when you do life with Him. You and I need to be God’s hands and feet and tell others about His love and pursuit of them. No one is ever too far gone to be reached by the love of Jesus.

Jesus’ sacrifice was not just for some but for all. It wasn’t for a certain time period but instead for all time. Accepting Christ is a great first step to living the life He has for you. It can’t stop there.

Read His Word and pray so you can learn to discern His direction and guidance. Invite His Holy Spirit to teach and guide you how to live. Spend time with other Christ followers and allow them to pour the love of God into you.

Then you will be filled to overflowing and be able to pour yourself out into the lives of others. You can’t fill from and empty cup and can’t give what you don’t have. Ask God to send you people to help you in your Jesus journey.

Then pray and ask Him who you can help. How often do you spend in community with believers and also non-believers who have yet to know His goodness?
