Unsteady

There is nothing more unsteady than a small boat caught in a storm in the middle of the open water. I can bet that even with all the nautical training, it would even be tough to manage for an experienced sailor.

Think of yourself for just a moment as the small boat. Many times in your life you will be caught in a storm—no one can avoid them all.

You may be having relationship issues with your spouse, dealing with a rebellious child, stuck in a job you hate or maybe feeling the pressure because you’ve recently lost your job, or have lost a loved one.

All of these things can toss you about as the wind and the waves whirl around you. You lose your footing. You lose sight of how things will be. You lose hope.

You may face the same problems as a Christ follower than someone who isn’t one. The difference is facing things with Christ by your side and having Him give you His power when you’re weak is a life preserver.

God doesn’t call us to be fair-weather Christians. He wants us to depend on Him in the good and the bad—when skies are sunny and things are good as well as when the waves try to overtake you.

Read God’s Word for guidance to learn who He is. It is who He is that will help you survive the storms. Who He is matters more than if He saves you from the storm or helps you ride it out.

Either way He is with you. There is no room for doubt if you know who He is and that He’s always in control—even of the storms that arise.

God is good all the time no matter what. This truth is what matters most. When you hold this as your perspective, or the lens through which you see everything, you will be able to live your best life.

Sometimes it’s hard not to focus on the storms we find ourselves in. What is something you’ve experienced that tossed you back and forth from faith in Him to doubt?
