Sustain Us

The holiday season is a time to think on the good things, but it often it brings up thoughts and memories that can make us feel the opposite. This Christmas is proving to be even tougher for many as the pandemic and loss—loss of lives, monetary loss, loss of employment—have been a part of many lives.

It can be easy to be down when not only is life not back to some sort of normalcy, but neither is Christmas. Things can seem hopeless and we can feel helpless. It doesn’t have to be this way.

The manger is the foundation of our hope. A manger is basically a food trough in a stable for the animals. Where food would normally be to sustain the animals, the manger where Jesus was laid contained what would sustain all of us for eternity.

He came to give life and give it in abundance. Before Christ was born, we had no hope for eternity. Our sin could have condemned us and death would have been all the end our lives held. But God…

His plan was to send His Son to all of us and His Son would live and die blameless and sinless. Jesus’ sacrifice helped all of us overcome death and have the opportunity to accept Christ. This acceptance offers eternal life with the Father in heaven forever—death where is your sting!

How has the Lord sustained you today?
