You’ve gotta have faith—at least that’s what the song says, but faith in what? This detail is what matters the most. What you believe and put your faith in can’t be a person or an ideal of this world.
Things that can change and are flawed aren’t the wisest things to look to for faith. There is only One who is perfect compared to our imperfections and only One who is sinless compared to our sinful natures.
Without Jesus Christ being born for you—God come to be with us—it would be impossible to live by faith. God calls us to a life of faith in Him just as Abraham went where God told him to without even knowing where he was going.
Believe me, moving from one place to another on the other side of the country just on a word from God to “go” is a big leap of faith. Peter was in the boat during the storm with the other disciples when Jesus approached them walking on the water.
Peter had faith in the moment that it was Jesus and when He told Peter to step out of the boat, Peter had faith it was Him. How quickly though Peter realized what he was doing and second guessed himself. He noticed the wind, the waves, and the thought about the fact he was humanly incapable to walk on water.
Living a life without faith in God will always leave you sinking in the sea and searching to trust something unstable in this world. In the end, all the world will pass away and what will be left is our eternity in heaven—if that’s what you choose.
Heaven and hell is a choice and it’s all based on your ability to have faith in who God says He is. If faith is the foundation of your life, you’ll trust God no matter where He leads you. We are all human and so there will be lapses in our faith as the weight and pressure of this world bears down on us.
You and I aren’t perfect and thank goodness God doesn’t ask us to be. But His power works best in our weakness. Where your faith may fail or wane, He is still God. Nothing changes who He is and He will always be there for you.
You’re never too far from Him as He is always pursuing you. He loves you that much. We just celebrated His Son’s birthday. Birthdays commemorate when someone was born into this world because each and every person is here to make a difference.
Why not put your faith and trust in the One who made you and knows you inside and out? It is sure to be a wild ride at times when you sign on for Him to guide you, but I personally wouldn’t want to live any other way.
