Not That Powerful

Were you ever up against someone and believed you would be able to stop them?

I almost got into a fight in middle school over something I didn’t even do. Let me rephrase that. Someone wanted to beat me up.

While we were both in the counselor’s office alone so we could talk out our issues, she had every intention of beating me to a pulp.

Want to know how I survived? I literally just kept telling her God loved her and that I had no intention of fighting with her physically or even verbally.

God used me to speak into her life that day. Had I tried to stand up for myself with violence, God wouldn’t have been able to soften her heart—at least not that day.

You may think some of the decisions you make or actions you take will keep God’s plans and will from prevailing. But the truth is, no one is that powerful.

No person can stand in God’s way. His plans will always prevail. In my story I could have retaliated and tried to fight the girl.

If I had, maybe she wouldn’t have come to know about God’s love until much later. But my actions in that moment would not have stood in the way of what He wanted to do in her life.

Sometimes plans are delayed, but His plans always come to fruition. Looking back, has there been a time when you thought you stood in God’s way? How did the situation pan out?
