So many times over the last several months I have found myself with nothing to do. There was nowhere to go and we weren’t able to physically see anyone.
As much as we seemed to sit around and be in closer proximity to our spouses and families, do we really take the time to be with them?
Being in the same house with someone is not the same as being with them. The ones closest to us don’t want us just be close to them. They want us to truly know them.
How many times do you remember asking your kids to sit and settle down? Even if you achieved this, it isn’t the same as being still and experiencing the moment you were trying to create with them.
Sitting and being still are not the same things. God wants you to come to Him and He will give you rest. But He also wants you to rest in His presence and just take the time to be with Him.
Find a quiet place where you can spend time in prayer and in God’s Word. As you sit still, be still in His presence. Be intentional on making time to be with God each and every day.
Even knowing time with Him is a priority, you may still go days without reading your Bible or lifting your voice in prayer. It may not seem like a big thing, but over time it turns into a habit and before you know it you don’t even remember the last time you actually spent time with God.
There is no way to know Him unless you are still and allow Him to speak into your life. He tells you He is here to help you and guides you by the hand as you go.
Life isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon and He’s your running partner. He never tires, knows how to lift you up, and will always be right beside you. How have you been intentional about spending time with God this week?
