Again and Again

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandpas, uncles, and father figures. You are seen and loved today and everyday. You may be feeling like the king of the world today, but some of you may be feeling a little less than.

The last couple of months have been anything other than ordinary and we’ve learned to do many things differently. You’ve probably experienced struggles from time to time and I just want you to know that God isn’t surprised by your struggles.

Nothing takes Him by surprise. No one is perfect, therefore, no one will have the absolute perfect life. You may not have had the best father figure to look up to and most fathers start out with the idea that they will be the ideal and perfect dad.

But things often go awry when we try to plan how things will go on our own. Just like moms, dads can often feel like they don’t live up to what’s expected of them and sometimes that can lead to some men giving up.

God has compassion on us. He wants you to lean on Jesus and not rely on your own strength or understanding to be what your kids need. God doesn’t ask you to be a perfect parent. He only wants you to live in such a way that points your kids back to Him.

He is our ultimate, loving Father. When all is said and done, we will all have to answer for the life we have lived and what better way to leave a legacy than to encourage our children on their journey with Jesus.

This doesn’t mean we had to do everything well and never fail, but let Him walk with you and help you up to try again. Just as He extends grace, forgiveness, and compassion to all of His children, that is what He’s calling all of you men to do as well.

Whatever young ones are in your life, teach them well and when they are old they will not stray from God. How are you celebrating Father’s Day today?
