Even before a child is born, he or she learns the sound of their mother and father’s voices. This is the same with our Heavenly Father.
We are all born knowing His voice, but somehow over time we forget what it sounds like and sometimes can no longer hear it. Just because we can’t hear it though doesn’t mean He isn’t trying to speak to us.
No, His voice isn’t an audible tone most of the time like yours and mine. But if you listen closely and intentionally you can discern His voice in the wind, in the waves, in the sunrise, and through the words of other believers that are spoken to you.
With that being said, the question really isn’t where we can hear Him speak to us. The question is why have we grown to not be able to hear Him?
God isn’t like Santa, but for some He has been treated this way. As some grow, they aren’t taught who God is and about Christ’s sacrifice that has the ability to give us freedom, eternal life, and joy everlasting.
When a person isn’t talked about and taught about to others, the thought about them and the stories related to them seem to slip away. We forget details and soon we find no sense in relaying about them at all.
When this happens we no longer can hear Him speak to us and all we can hear are all the other voices and viewpoints around us—telling us what to believe and think and do.
This skews our sense of what is real and separates us from God. He is very much still speaking to you and pursuing you in the race against the world for your heart.
The world is so loud it tends to drown out the still and subtle voice of God. Instead of allowing the views, morals, and values of the world to cloud our vision and our hearing, you and I have to be intentional about discerning the voice of our Heavenly Father.
Are you still able to hear the voice of God or have the voices and views of this world drowned Him out?
