Have you ever received a gift and when you opened it you didn’t know how to react? Maybe it was something so random that it wasn’t even relevant to you or something so over the top that you wondered when you would ever use it.
We’ve all been there. You try to be polite and smile, even awkwardly, and thank the giver. Do you know each person has been given gifts by God in the way of talents, skills, and traits? At times these gifts can be viewed by yourself as random and irrelevant. Others can look at you opening them and ponder how YOU will ever be able to get use out of them.
I have some news for you! God doesn’t make mistakes. He is very intentional about what “presents” He gives to you. Maybe you’re afraid to open them. But why?
You might fear having to use whatever it is in your life because it may not fit in with who you’ve already created yourself to be. But God’s dreams and plans for you will always be greater than the ones you dream and plan for yourself.
Perhaps you have put yourself out there before with your talents and the response was less than favorable. So you choose to open the gifts He’s given to you, but not to use them. The ridicule and embarrassment would be enough to keep you living in a hole alone forever.
God didn’t give you the talents, skills, and abilities you have so you would keep them all to yourself. He gave them specifically to you to use for your good and His glory. Every time you use what He has given to you, you bring glory to Him.
Noah was a man of God and was so dedicated he did what God asked of Him. He set out to build an ark to save himself, his family, and some animals from a flood when it hadn’t even rained let alone flooded. People perceived him as crazy for using his gift of craftsmanship to build something that no one understood.
In the end, his family was safe because of the use of his gifts and talents as the rest of humanity was wiped out. Nothing He gives you or asks of you is ever a mistake. Even if it sounds crazy to you and others don’t understand it, it all fits into God’s will and His perfect plans.
What gifts has God given to you that you may not be using right now? Why haven’t you been using them?
