The Gift of Victory

Faith is a gift. It’s not built from human confidence, but instead from our trust in the promises of God.

Someone who has not accepted Christ can still say they live by faith, but it’s different from living with faith in God. Everything in this world will one day pass away. This is just a proven fact.

Putting your faith in things of this world, including people, will always fall short. You will at some point be disappointed. The idea of having faith in something means you trust it no matter what.

We are all human and things are only things. Can you really rely on them one hundred percent? You would like to think you are one hundred percent reliable, but this isn’t a reality for anyone—as much as we try.

God is never-changing, all-knowing, and loves unconditionally. This makes Him reliable. The promises He makes will always be fulfilled.

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The only way we have faith and our faith can become stronger is by hearing and obeying the Word of God. Just as He is reliable, so is His Word.

The Holy Spirit is a helper given to us to be able to understand His Word and to encourage us about the right way to live. When you accept Christ and are baptized, His Spirit lives in you.

He enables you to read the Bible more than surface deep. You may say you don’t read the Bible often because you don’t understand it and can’t see how the stories are relevant to you.

I challenge you to pray for Him to make the Word come alive to you. Let Him speak to you and where you’re at in your life through His Word. Understanding His will leads to obedience of it. You can’t follow and live out what you don’t comprehend.

If you allow Him, He will open your eyes, heart, and mind to the way He sees things and the purpose He has for your life. Your faith will grow in Him and it is through Him you will have victory over the things of this world.

Anxiety, fear, depression, greed, idolatry, and every other evil in this world will not have a hold on you when you put your faith in God. This isn’t to say these things will not affect you, but don’t let them get a foothold in your life. Let Him work in and through you to declare victory!

Have you declared victory over this life through your faith in Jesus Christ? How often do you sit and allow God to speak to you through His Word?
