Words

Words are powerful. They have the ability to build someone up or tear them down. In the beginning there was only God and with His holy breath He spoke and everything was formed.

In the Garden, Adam and Eve were told by God what not to eat, but were persuaded by the words of the serpent to eat the forbidden fruit. Some words are spoken that lead us away from God.

Jesus came fulfilling the prophets foretelling of His coming. He taught and reached many people with the words of God. His words have the power to give you eternal life.

Giving someone your word is promising them something. I’ve heard it said though that you shouldn’t promise what isn’t in your control.

Some of you have been betrayed by promises spoken to you for protection, provision, and even love. Another who cared for you broke their word and all I have to say is we are human.

This isn’t to give excuses for people, but merely to shed light on the idea that although someone can promise you the world, God is the only one who could make good on this promise—since He created it all.

People will always fall short including you, but God’s promises will always be fulfilled. His word will not return void.

Knowing God is true to His word and His words have power, how has God fulfilled promises in your life?
