Who Do You See?

There are people in your life you know so well that even if you didn’t see them for years and they showed up in front of you, you would still know exactly who they are.

The disciples who spent day in and day out with Jesus would probably say they knew Him well. They prayed together, ate together, and were with Him when He worked miracles and healing in the lives of others.

I’m sure if Peter had a headache all Jesus had to do was put His hands on his head and pray for the pain to go away. Many times in the Bible it is said that the faith of a person, believing they could be healed, is what solidified their healing.

So when Jesus fed 5,000 people with five loaves and two fish, Peter and the other disciples were there as eyewitnesses. Right after this, they were sent ahead of Jesus for the night in a boat to get to the other side by morning.

A storm with high winds blew the boat around and the disciples were fearful of the outcome. Then in the midst of the storm, Jesus appeared to them—walking on the water.

Peter didn’t recognize Jesus as they thought it must be a ghost. He tested Jesus and said if it was Him, to tell him to walk out to Him onto the water.

In faith Peter stepped out and in fear he fell. Everything seems to look different through the eyes of fear—even Jesus.

I encourage you today to get to know Jesus so well that when the storms rise and fear raises its ugly head, you have a clear and undeniable focus on He who is always with you.

When the storms of life come, will you be overwhelmed with fear and doubt or will you keep your focus on who He is, knowing in faith that He is with you?
