We’ve all seen police shows where they are in hot pursuit of a suspect. They do all they can to stay on his or her trail and to keep sight of them. Are you in hot pursuit of God?
God is always in pursuit of us not because we have done anything wrong, but because He loves us. We can never do anything to lose Him. His love for us is unconditional—even if you’ve done some really bad stuff.
Just as God intentionally chases after us, He wants to be first in your life. The Bible says to never be lacking in zeal for the things of God. Live with an eagerness and genuine interest to do life with Him. If you want to live your best life there is no other way than to live in with God taking the lead.
Life can often get in the way of our spiritual closeness with Him. Your schedule gets busy. Then, before you know it evening has come and all you can think about it getting in bed to rest up for the next day. God doesn’t want you to just pencil in time with Him like an occasional coffee date or lunch with a friend.
He asks you to keep your spiritual fervor—the intensity for the things of God and a deep longing just to be with Him. Zeal and fervor brings life to your relationship with Him. It’s what makes your pursuit of Him so much more.
He loves you and wants you to allow Him to do life with you. Will you let Him? Will you stop putting other things in the way of spending time with Him and pursue things that can make more of an eternal impact in your life and the lives of others?
