Doubting Thomas

Have you ever had someone tell you something and even though it was true you didn’t believe them? If you have, then you’re like many others who need to see things for themselves before they believe it to be true.

You would be called a doubting Thomas. But did you know this title comes from Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples? Jesus had been crucified and and some of the other disciples were testifying to the fact that they had seen Jesus.

Thomas doubted what they were saying because He hadn’t seen Jesus after He had risen—even though Jesus had told them all He would rise again in three days time.

When Jesus came to all of them at once and Thomas saw Him and touched Him, then he believed. Jesus says though that those who believe in Him without having to see Him are blessed.

Belief in Jesus doesn’t come from actually seeing Him. It comes from faith through grace, which we are given when we make the choice to believe in Him without seeing Him.

When you hear someone’s testimony about what God did in their life you see His power. When you take time to witness the beauty in the world around you, you experience His promises that never will He leave you or forsake you.

Have you believed in Him without seeing Him or are you still waiting on a sign or evidence He truly exists?
