Perspective

I know it’s easy for someone else to say, “You’ll get through this” when you’re in the middle of a storm. It’s often hard to keep looking forward when something happens to detour your way.

One person whose life could have been completely different was Joseph, you know one of the son’s of Jacob who had the coat of many colors?

His brothers were jealous that their father loved Joseph the most. Then Joseph had two dreams and in both of them, his brothers were bowing down to him. In the second dream even his dad was bowing to him.

So the brothers threw him into an empty cistern and then decided to sell him as a slave instead of killing him.

He was sold to one of Pharaoh’s officials in Egypt as a slave. God stayed with him every step of his journey. Through a series of events, he ended up one step under Pharaoh and in charge of everything.

When a famine is imminent, Joseph helps to stockpile food to sustain Egypt through the upcoming hard seven years.

Joseph’s brothers come to him and plead to buy food, but they have no idea at first it is their brother they’re bowing to. The previous dreams from long ago have come to pass.

He could have held it against his brothers for the way they treated him many years before. Instead, he chose the help them and responds by telling them because of what they did, he ended up exactly where God needed him to be at that very moment.

Even the bad things in your life can be used for good by God. Joseph could have lost hope, but he chose to put his trust in God. He fulfilled his purpose because he allowed God to use him and also knew God was always with him.

Where you are right now is on purpose. God has placed you there to make a difference in the lives of others.

How has God used you to make a difference now because of what you’ve gone through in the past?
