The Flow

What does the phrase “Go with the flow” mean to you? Usually it means to take things as they come and don’t let unexpected things throw you for loops you weren’t prepared for. Let life come as it will and count it all as progress and part of the process of your journey.

The Bible talks about your heart and relates it to flow. Everything you do flows from your heart. Every action you perform and every emotion that you feel and convey comes from the condition of your heart. Sometimes there are circumstances you go through that cause you to put up walls so you can’t be hurt again.

Maybe you had a bad relationship and when anyone brings up their significant other you immediately react in a negative and pessimistic manner. We are all human and have our flaws and faults, but maybe you had parents who didn’t quite get it right. This hurt can get rooted in your heart and stand as a wall between you and the purpose God has for you of being a great mother or father.

We need to be careful with our heart. Don’t let bitterness rule over your life. It’s important to pray and give your heart to God so that He can start the healing process of all the hurts and wounds you have incurred over the years. Only when you truly give it all to Him can He change your heart.

This is what it means when He says we are to guard our heart. Protect it and allow God to heal it so you can be the best you that God made you to be. Then, you will live the life based on the course He already set in motion for you. Choosing to have God hold your heart is the best decision you could ever make.

No matter how much it hurts, true freedom comes only from allowing God in. How has doing life with God changed you perspective, your heart, and ultimately your life?
