As long as man has been alive, we have offered sacrifices to try and pay for what we have done—in hopes of gaining right standing with a higher power. Before Christ, the sacrifice had to be a very specific animal that was pure and without any imperfections.
You may be wondering why everything changed when Christ came. God sent Christ to earth to be born, live, and die a human life. The important detail though is that He was not fully man. He was God’s Son. Because He never sinned, He was a pure and perfect sacrifice. God sent Him here among us and His sole purpose was to be the final sacrifice needed to redeem all of mankind forever.
With His death and ultimate resurrection, He became the last and ultimate sacrifice for you and for me. This means that we don’t need to pay for our salvation. There is nothing we could ever do that would allow us to save ourselves. If there was, there would never have been a need for Christ.
It’s up to you to accept His sacrifice and in turn your salvation. It’s a choice you have to make, but whether you accept it or not does not change the fact that it happened. But I ask this: What have you got to lose by living for Christ?
