When you were a kid, did you ever count down the days until something special—maybe it was Christmas, your birthday, vacation, or perhaps an awesome field trip? We do this as adults too, but sometimes what we are counting down to isn’t as pleasant as when we were a kid. Any way you slice it, our days are numbered. Our time here on Earth is limited. It’s true some live to be more than 100, but this is a rare event as time goes on. Welcome to Thursday morning! All kidding aside, in light of eternity, our time here is short, which brings up the question why put off until tomorrow what you can do today? Something happens when we start to view our time as limited. We begin to prioritize the people and tasks that matter most. Society tells us we have to remain busy and do it all, but that’s just fear talking. When we wisely choose what is most important we make the most of every opportunity. We live for something bigger than ourselves and make a difference in the world. If we live numbering our days it is easier to understand God’s will for our lives and live it to the fullest. How would you live differently if you started numbering your days?
