When many of us are told to take a day off, our first thought isn’t to say “okay.” Our mind thinks on all our responsibilities. How can we make sure our needs are met when we lose pay being off for a day? There are also so many demands on our time between children, social calendars, and those who put in more than their share of hours a week in a job that they may not even like. All of these worries though do not show that we trust God when He tells us to take a day off. The Bible is clear, as it is one of the Ten Commandments, we are to keep the Sabbath holy—meaning we are supposed to take a day of rest. When we observe a day of rest as God wants us to, it not only recharges us and helps us to not get burned out, but it also shows God that we trust Him. We trust Him enough to put all the busyness of life aside for one day so that we can slow down a bit and relax. When is the last time you were able to just relax and take a Sabbath?
