Fear holds us back in many areas of our lives. It can keep us from being in community with others or from trying new things. It can make us feel like we will repeat our past failings. Fear can hold us captive, but it’s a prison we make ourselves by allowing our negative self-talk to get the better of us. We let the “what ifs” and other wanderings of our minds hold us back from the destiny God has planned for us. There are numerous instances of people in the Bible being told, “Do not be afraid.” This phrase was often followed by the person being told that the Lord was with them. We are no different than the people we read about in the Bible. What would happen if we all decided to not be afraid or discouraged because God is with us? What would you do if you were not afraid to fail?
