So many things happen in the world around us and also to us that sometimes we can become numb to the things that truly matter.
It’s easy for you to pass a homeless man on the corner on your way home from work and not stop to help because it’s been a long day and you just can’t wait to get home, or dinner is waiting and you’re starving, or you may even think that you don’t need to stop because someone else will help him.
Whatever the excuse you tell yourself, there are always ways to be God to those around you. Because we have been desensitized in our society, many try to make it through on their own. I don’t know where I’d be with what my family has gone through without our faith in God.
Maybe you are just going through the motions day to day without ever thinking there could be more for you. If you are a Christ follower, it is your responsibility to see others the way God sees them. Each one of us has value and is valued and loved in God’s eyes.
Open your eyes! See the beauty of His creation around you. It’s in the air you breathe, the rain that falls, the sun that shines. You can see it in the mountains and the sea.
You can see it in the people around you too. We are all born sinful creatures, but because of Christ we have been given the choice to choose eternal life and a life here on earth that means so much more.
Some of us choose not to hear things as well. We have not only chosen to turn a blind eye to things we don’t want to deal with, but we have become deaf. The big problem with choosing not to hear is that we also cannot hear the voice of God.
When people live without one sense, like sight or hearing, their other senses are heightened. But when you are without your sense of sight AND hearing, it cripples you. Your life changes dramatically.
If you have chosen to turn a blind eye and have a deaf ear to God, you are missing out on the most fulfilling life you could ever have. Believing in Christ and living like Him is hard, but that’s what we are called to do.
What is keeping you from seeing and hearing God? How is He asking you to open your eyes and hear the world around you that needs to know Him?
