It is very possible for you to hear but not listen. I am assured that my children hear me more than they actually listen. Maybe you have children or have met some adults like this too?
It is easier to hear and respond by listening when you are being told something you want to be doing. Also, even when you listen and follow through one time, it doesn’t mean you will do it every time. Why?
We are inhibited by our fears, what others will think of us, and what we believe to be our limitations. And many people do not want to be told what to do. It can be hard to have a servant’s heart when you limit yourself.
God speaks through many things, but we don’t always hear. When your devotion to God takes a back seat to other areas of your life, you can think God isn’t speaking to you, but He speaks to you all the time. He speaks through the nature around you and the people surrounding you.
Don’t become deaf to the voice of God. Look for Him speaking to you in the beauty and people all around you. How has God been speaking to you lately?
