From the beginning, you were created to reflect the image of your father. It’s true each child has characteristics and traits from both of their parents. Human genetics is an amazing thing.
Spiritual genetics is even more incredible. Your creator, your heavenly Father, has passed on to you certain traits as well. He specifically designed you to reflect His image. There was a time I was confused about the meaning of being made in His image and likeness.
I thought it meant that in some way each one of us physically looked like God. On the contrary, it goes deeper than that! You and I were made to reflect who God is in His very nature. He is love.
You were made in the image of love. As a child of God, you reflect Him to everyone you meet—just like a mirror. If a mirror is put through different conditions though it can affect the image quality.
The same is true of you. You can say yes to some good things in your life, but they can sometimes keep you from the even better God things He intends for you. Things that are good but not the best for you can tarnish or distort the way God shines His light through you.
All the things and busyness of this life can mess with your concentration on God. When you take the time to focus on Him first, your reflection will have the greatest influence on others. How does your reflection honor God?
