When you think of someone who is bound, you probably think of someone who is being held against their will. This can sometimes be the case. However, when you and I made the choice to be Christ followers, we chose to be His bond servant.
A bond servant is one who is bound to serve someone without gaining anything from it for themselves. The word bound in this instance means you have a moral obligation to Christ. You are obliged, or indebted, to someone who has performed a favor or a service.
He performed a service to us all with His life, death, and resurrection. Jesus contributed to our spiritual and eternal well being through this act of love. He did not do this willing and selfless act so we would have tangible evidence of His service to us, but rather an understanding of our intangible God.
That day on the cross, Christ bore all of the sins you could ever commit. It could have been us there on that cross and in a way it was.
You were crucified with Christ. All of your sins were forgiven. It is because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross that you have the option to become a new creation in Him. He resurrected you to new life here on this earth when you chose Him and He has given you a lifetime of eternity with Him in heaven, too. It all happened when you chose to believe in Christ and allow Him to lead your life.
Have you fully committed to Him and surrendered your dreams and plans for His? Are you living for who you want to be or who God made you to be?
