Who Should Go?

We have all been in situations where we didn’t want to be called out or called upon to do something. As a child, you may have been embarrassed to raise your hand and answer a question for all to hear, for fear you may have been wrong.

As an adult, maybe there is a project at work you know you could execute with excellence, but there’s a voice in your head telling you that you will fail because your silent confidence is not who you really are—unqualified for the job.

No matter what, you have let fear and the risk of failure keep you from stepping out and using your gifts, talents, and skills for good. God put certain things inside of you that would be needed for you to live out His call on your life.

Before you go out and tell everyone, “Here I am, send me,” think about what this means. So many of us are doing tasks and working in jobs that do not fit the skills and talents God has given us. Is this you today? This is not to say we should all just quit our jobs and stop volunteering for every little thing that comes our way.

Fear of missing out (FOMO) is a real thing. But ponder this, can you really give something your 100% effort if you are committed to too many things?

Sometimes though you may have committed to do one thing and it still doesn’t turn out right. Why? Even if you choose to do something with excellence, giving it your all, it can fail because it did not utilize your unique gifts and talents.

So before you give everything your best try, commit yourself to God today and ask Him to guide your steps and your hands (as you raise them to volunteer and take over everything you’re asked to do).

Don’t let your commitments become empty words and promises with not enough follow through or the right skill set to back them up. Ask God to help you choose the things He wants you to do that will make the most eternal impact for His glory.

What have you committed to that you are struggling with today and why are you having a hard time completing it?
