Everything that happens creates a ripple affect. Everything you do affects others so the decisions you make today have an impact on someone else’s tomorrow.
There are many who have gone before us and laid the foundation of what we believe to be true. This may include your parents and grandparents, pastors, other leaders, and the list goes on.
Sometimes what has shaped you isn’t always what is good, right, and holy. If there is a generational curse in your family like divorces in every generation or even extreme cases like abuse, the “curse” can stop with you. Ask God to guide your way and give you the strength to break the ties and lies that have bound for generations.
Other things that have shaped you are good like hope, faith, and love. Many you read about in the Bible have prepared a way for you to live by faith. Abraham went in faith because God told him to—even when he didn’t know where he was going.
Moses was apprehensive at first, but he stepped out in faith and ended up leading the Israelites out of generations of bondage and oppression. And Noah, he loved and trusted God so much he built an ark like God said to save himself, his family, and some animals from an earth-destroying flood—even though there wasn’t a drop of rain in the forecast.
There are so many more stories of great faith we could look at and draw strength and courage from, but the point is those who went before us began a journey of faith and didn’t see the promises of God come to pass until they were gone from this earth.
So much of what you do today will impact your children and their children and so on. The continuation of the faith of those who came before you is perfected, or has come to maturity, in you and the faith you have in God.
Likewise, the faith you have and pass on to the next generation will impact their faith. Faith is contagious and can spread like wildfire if you let it truly affect your entire life.
