Search Me, Know Me

Do you have anyone who truly knows you? Are they someone who sees things in you, good and bad, that you don’t see and they are willing to tell you so?

It’s one thing for someone to see how you are and another for them to be honest and tell you. If you allow Him, God can be this kind of friend.

King David knew he wasn't perfect, but he prayed in Psalm 139 for God to search him and know his heart. David asked Him to test him and know his thoughts.

How often have you heard someone say that someone has a good heart or that they were a good person? Maybe someone has said this about you. It isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but at the root (your heart) it isn’t exactly accurate.

In Jeremiah 17:9, Jeremiah says “The heart is wicked and sinful in all its ways.” This is the truth of all our hearts—without God’s intervention.

Only He can change and heal your heart from past wounds and current hangups. Praying this prayer David prayed takes courage. It’s an all in type of prayer.

If you pray it, be ready for God to respond. He corrects us because He loves us and His answer to this prayer may not be all sunshine and roses. When He responds, your response should not be, “Well that’s great. Thanks for telling me.”

Follow up His words with action. I guarantee the result will be a closer relationship with God than you have known so far in your life.

What do you think God will reveal to you about yourself when you pray this prayer?
