Here to Serve

What kind of leader are you? You may not feel you’re a leader at all, but I assure you that you are in a position of leadership.

Leadership isn’t exclusively linked to certain titles, positions on the org chart, or higher rungs on the corporate ladder. We are all born leaders. Leadership is about influence.

Wherever you are, you’re in a position to influence someone. Mothers impact their children. Church volunteers impact those they come in contact with in and out of the church. Businessmen impact those they lead.

There are leaders who focus only on attaining things for themselves. They are only in it for what the power can do for them. Then there are those leaders who actually lead for the benefit of others.

These types of leaders are servant leaders and this is exactly as God wants us to live. Even Jesus didn’t come to earth for others to serve Him, but to serve others so that by the way He lived His life, God would be glorified.

Everyone has different responsibilities, but we all are supposed to honor God in the way we deal with people. Jesus is our perfect example of how to live a Godly life. Love God and love others. These are the greatest commands that He has given us.

Being a servant leader shouldn’t be in only one aspect of your life. If you lead in this way it should be evident inside of your home and outside of your home as well as in the office and outside of the office. Most importantly serving others doesn’t just happen inside the church walls. Go out into the world and serve others as Christ came to serve.

Your servant leadership shouldn’t be compartmentalized any more than you should compartmentalize God in your life. There should be no part of your life that you keep God out of and as a leader you should always lead for the benefit of others.

Christ gave of Himself to everyone around Him. We are to model this leadership. How are you doing at being a servant leader in every aspect of your life?
