Many children are surprised when they see their teacher anywhere other than school. Why? They think the teachers live at school.
Maybe this was your thought process as a child. Let’s bring this process to mind as an adult. Most of us would not like to live where we work.
But this brings a very important question to mind. Does God live in the places man has built where you come together with other believers to worship Him?
A school isn’t just the place where students go to learn. It’s the teachers who teach in and out of the classroom.
Your work isn’t just the building you go to. It’s all the people from the top to the bottom who make the company function in all capacities.
The church isn’t a building where you meet. It’s the people who gather together to worship God.
And God doesn’t live in church buildings. He lives in you! For some it can be hard to wrap your mind around the idea of Christ living in the inside of you.
Let me explain. When Jesus died, He did not stay in the grave. God brought Him back to life. He had walked on the earth and many disciples followed Him and believed His teaching.
Upon His resurrection, He spoke to the disciples who had been closest to Him, explaining that since He wasn’t walking among the people anymore, He was sending His Spirit to live in us.
When you were born, God breathed life into your lungs with His breath.
When you accept Christ and commit to making Him known on the earth, you are reborn. In this rebirth, His Holy Spirit is breathed into your life and makes you new. His Spirit lives in you!
How does it make you live your life differently knowing as a follower of Jesus, His Spirit lives and breathes in you?
