If you’re anything like me this time of year, the calendar is full and free time is sparse. The hustle and bustle of the season is exciting—love and joy seem to abound more so than usual.
But with baking cookies, buying the perfect gifts for everyone, and maybe even hosting the whole family to celebrate at your home, there ends up being so little time for what really matters.
We tend to forget with so much going on why we even have a Christmas to celebrate. You can’t have Christmas without Christ! He wants us to spend time with Him as well as loving on people with His love.
You can’t fully give to others what God wants you to if you aren’t letting Him pass it on to you first. He can’t pass it on to you if you aren’t spending time talking with Him and studying His Word.
There are plenty of people who have Bible verses memorized to share with others at the drop of a hat. When you spend time with Him, He rubs off on you and then it’s not just about the words you say, but about the way you make people feel.
Take the time to rest this holiday season. God created the world in six days and on the seventh He rested. Jesus went away by Himself at times and rested. They both knew how important it was to rest.
Remember to rest in Him, the reason for the season. How are you taking the time to rest this holiday and not getting caught up in the holiday hustle? If you find yourself caught up, how can you start taking the time to stop and let Him rejuvenate you?
