When you wake in the morning, what’s first on your mind? The day ahead and what it entails or do you pause to take in the beauty of the morning?
When you have a busy day before you, it can be difficult to wake up thinking of anything else. Honestly, there are days I’m not looking forward to and all I can think about is getting back into bed to sleep that night—putting the day behind me before it’s even begun.
As Christ followers, He wants to work through you to do great things. It’s good to have an agenda and it feels great to get things done, but ultimately you have to remember that today and every day is the day that the Lord has made.
He wants us to rejoice in the day. You can’t do that if you are worrying or stressed from the minute you wake up. So how do you combat these feeling from welling up in you?
Start your day by giving it to God. Lay there and talk to God before your feet ever hit the floor. Thank Him for allowing you to experience the awesomeness of His love and to be alive for another day—for tomorrow is promised to no one.
He wants to bless you and bless others through you but He can’t do that well if you are the one trying to control your own steps. Make a daily list. Create a routine for your day. Both of these planning tools are great to use, but make sure to allow for His interruptions.
His interruptions shouldn’t be viewed as inconveniences, but instead opportunities to make a difference. All He wants is for you to be willing to give Him your day and He will guide and direct your steps.
Have you prayed this morning to give your day to God?
